Heaven holds its breath as the long-awaited moment draws near.
He never changes:
Immutable
Infinite
And yet … this will change everything.
Or will it?
Can this, too, have been written into eternity from outside mutability?
His ways are above all others.
How can any comprehend?
So Heaven waits, holding its breath.
He comes!
His smile fills all existence with warmth.
Affection
Compassion
Lovingkindness
Enfolds His adamantine determination.
Nothing will sway His purpose.
He raises His eyes to the Father’s
Holds His gaze
And takes the step that can never be reversed.
He crosses into Time
Entering Created Order
Becoming part of the Universe He Himself shaped
from nothing.
His Infinity shrinks…
… Empties
Authority…
relinquished
Omniscience…
curtailed
Omnipresence…
restricted
Immutability…
subjected to growth … process … change …
Poured out …
Into finitude
smallness
limitation
… pain.
It is done.
He is gone.
Yet not gone.
For He ever was
ever is
ever will be.
Divinity
now enfleshed
wrapped in not-divine.
None in heaven understands
None can ever comprehend
The immensity of this single step
that roars through the immensity of infinity …
reverberating through the eternal NOW …
Forever.
A life lived in Time.
A breath held in Heaven.
A blink in infinity.
So small.
So infinitesimal.
Yet all eternity hinges on it.
Poured out
Emptied
Ever changed
Ever unchanging
Glory incomprehensible
Love unimaginable
Sacrifice unmeasurable
Wisdom unplumbable
Heaven holds its breath as this long-awaited purpose reaches fulfilment
And all Creation weeps…
Joy or sorrow?
None can say
Only, “It is done!”
