Make It or Wait It?

Who am I like? 

Sarah or Mary?

Both received promises of fullness to come.

Both longed for such fullness.

One laughed

Then denied.

One clarified

Then bowed.

One’s doubt twined with impatience

To fulfill another way.

One’s question sought confirmation

To affirm promise given.

One pushed to make it happen.

One waited for it.

Who am I like?

Sarah or Mary?

“Do it this way – follow custom.”

“Do it His way – follow a new way.” 

Sarah’s  ‘make it happen’ 

Reverberates explosively through the ages:

Hatred

Violence

Dissension

Acrimony.

Mary’s ‘wait’ 

Flows peacefully through history:

Love

Peace

Unity

Justice.

Who am I like?

“Let it be unto me

According to Your will.”
