What are your moments?
Moments that stopped you in your tracks?
Formative moments?
Memorable moments?
Moments that carried you elsewhere?
Moments that point you to One?
Light glistens on a water drop sitting atop a leaf. Just sitting. It came there among many others, yet it now sits, among neighbours yet entire in itself, reflecting light, magnifying… Beauty in stasis. Refreshing held in tension until something releases it… A breeze moves the leaf and the droplets run together, their momentary solitary glory swallowed up into the larger flow.
Beautiful moment.
I glance up from my book and catch my breath.
Across the room, light plays along maroon, vibrant, deep as eternity, as unexpected in my humdrum day, in my simple room as a feast in an alleyway. I am captivated.
Colour! Such colour!
Such depth.
Such beauty.
My throat aches with its glory. I cannot look away for a long, long moment.
And maroon not a colour I have liked until now has deepened a joy and wonder in all colour …
The memory lingers on.
The moment lasts.
A conversation on a hot, humid, noisy balcony overlooking a dirty street in a country far away from all I once knew.
Unexpected.
Heart-opening.
Overwhelming.
Mindset changing.
A few moments only.
The aftermath rings on… echoing through my psyche, my heart, my spirit.
A moment changed me. Changes me still…
Moments add together like water in a river, forming the stream of my life. Of yours.
Like in the river, water drops seem insignificant, yet without them no river would flow – so in our lives, without those moments that change us, give us joy, make us wonder or smile or cry or love, our lives would be barren.
Moments add together into the richness of lives lived.
What are your moments?
