The golden field.
Gold light.
Golden stalks.
Golden grain.
The soft light touched the grain so the feathered edges glistened like diamonds. The stalks trembled and quivered in the gentle breeze, swaying to a quiet rhythm. Even the sky above shone a pastel gold.
I wandered through the field aimlessly, right hand brushing the tops of the grain, trailing behind and to His right.
There was no hurry.
Peace lay on this field… this harvest…
He paused and cupped His palm, indicating I should do the same.
As I did, brushing my cupped hand across the top of the stalks, the seeds came off, dropping lightly into my palm. They glittered there, sparkling.
Beautiful.
Incredibly valuable.
They weren’t wheat or barley or oats.
They were diamonds, emeralds, sapphires…multi-faceted jewels worth far more than I could imagine.
Startled, I glanced up at Him.
He smiled.
“My provision is sufficient. The harvest comes when ready. The work has been done. The seed sown. It will ripen at the appointed time.”
Peace again settled over me.
The treasure in my hand and growing all around me would be harvested at the right time. It was more than enough.
My part was to trust.
And to pass my hands over the waving grain as I walked through His golden fields in peace. The ripe ones would fall gently into my ready palms at the appointed time.

Hi Kat B
This is beautiful! Thank you for sharing something so very personal. I hope you plan to gather your writings into book form…devotional style. Yes, there are lots out there, but devotionals seem to last forever. I still read Oswald Chambers, Streams in the Desert and others. And sometimes…I may have said this before, but just sometimes, they don’t become popular until the author is long gone. Printed paper/books endure, and can be passed down through generations.. I’m not so sure about on-line writings. Also, different personalities vary in the style of devotional they read, so there is plenty of room for your unique style.
Thank you, Kathy! I appreciate your comments. You never know…
It’s poignant and encouraging all at the same time. Love it.
